Ray J's Devastating Confession: 'My Heart's Black and Dying – I Only Have Months Left'
'2027 is definitely a wrap for me,' he said, gesturing a cut-throat sign

Ray J has revealed in a stark social media confession that his heart is failing and doctors have given him only months to live. The 45-year-old singer, known for hits like One Wish, said his heart is beating at just 25% capacity, with the right side 'black' and 'done.'
He blamed years of alcohol, Adderall and drug abuse for his condition, admitting he thought he was 'invincible.' This came after his hospitalisation in Las Vegas earlier this month for severe pneumonia and heart pain. It marks his second bout with pneumonia in four years, following a 2021 episode during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ray J, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr, shared the news in videos posted on Instagram, later reshared on X.
Health Crisis Unfolds
In the videos, Ray J appeared sombre, speaking from what looked like a home setting. '2027 is definitely a wrap for me,' he said, gesturing a cut-throat sign. He explained that doctors had warned him his time was limited, with one side of his heart essentially dead from abuse.
'I f***ed up,' he confessed, reflecting on his lifestyle. 'I thought I could handle all the alcohol, all the Adderall, all the drugs, but I couldn't.' The confession has sparked concern among fans, with many sending prayers. Ray J thanked supporters for their messages, noting he 'almost died' but survived thanks to prayers. He also expressed a desire to spend more time with his children.
Family Support and Legal Troubles
Ray J credited his sister, singer Brandy, for covering his hospital bills for the rest of the year, adding that his parents were taking him to further appointments. This health scare comes amid other challenges.
In November 2025, Ray J was arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at his ex-wife, Princess Love, and charged with making criminal threats. Multiple firearms were recovered from the home, and he later claimed in court documents that he acted to prevent her from driving away with the kids while impaired. By December, charges expanded to six misdemeanors, including brandishing a firearm and child endangerment.
He is also in a legal dispute with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner over a settlement related to their 2007 sex tape. Despite these issues, Ray J remains optimistic about recovery if he stays on the 'right path.'
Future Plans Amid Uncertainty
Looking ahead, Ray J plans to travel to Haiti in two weeks for 'voodoo' treatment, hoping it might help his condition. He mentioned that someone suggested the spiritual approach could provide a cure where conventional medicine has fallen short, reflecting his determination to pursue every possible avenue despite the serious prognosis and travel advisories for the region.
The singer's career spans music, reality TV and business ventures, including his Tronix Network. In his posts, he promoted upcoming changes to the network, urging fans to subscribe.
Industry figures have yet to comment publicly, but the news has circulated widely on social media. As of 29 January 2026, Ray J has not provided further updates on his heart confession. His revelation highlights the toll of substance abuse, serving as a cautionary tale. Fans continue to rally, hoping for a positive turn.
