Andre Villas-Boas Gives Scouting Update In Lead-Up To January
Andre Villas-Boas has admitted that he is scouting a number of players from Romanian side Steaua Bucharest with the Tottenham manager looking into the country for upcoming talent.
Bucharest faced Chelsea in their final Champions League group stage match this week and the side lost 1-0 in a respectable game that sees them exit the competition at the bottom of Group E.
But with young talent coming through the ranks, including Arsenal target Florin Dumitru, Villas-Boas says he has been keeping a close eye on the side to see if any players have the potential to join Tottenham.
Talksport reported the Spurs manager said: "There are a couple of Romanian players who are very interesting, particularly at Steaua [Bucharest], but I cannot mention them for obvious reasons.
"But I think there is always talent coming out of Romanian football. I think it's always a market that we have to be aware of."
Tottenham are believed to be seriously considering bolstering their squad in the January transfer window with the side hoping to recover from a shaky start to the season and stake a serious claim for a top-four spot.
The fight for Champions League qualification will be tougher than ever in 2014 with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool pushing hard for top spot as well as Everton and Manchester United on the outskirts.
Spurs were reportedly considering possible move for Bucharest captain Alex Bourceanu, with the defensive midfielder reportedly mulling over a move to the Premier League.
And with the side already having established a transfer relationship with the Romanian club this year - having signed Vlad Chiriches for £8.5m in the summer - it would appear that the manager is in the market for more players in the next window as well.
