'It Was Absolutely Insane': Travis Kelce Reveals Adam Sandler's Emotional Role at His Secret Taylor Swift Wedding

Travis Kelce has revealed that Adam Sandler got ordained in New York to officiate his and Taylor Swift's private wedding at Madison Square Garden, describing the July ceremony as 'absolutely insane'.

Speaking on the season premiere of his 'New Heights' podcast on Wednesday, the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end said Sandler took on the role specifically for the occasion. Kelce praised the actor's involvement, saying he had been 'just the best person on this planet'.

'For him to be up for getting ordained in the state of New York and marrying me and Taylor in the way he did, in the very Sandman style and giving us more than we could have ever imagined in that moment, knowing that it was the biggest night of both of our lives. It was absolutely insane, man,' Kelce said.

How MSG Was Transformed for the Ceremony

Madison Square Garden was transformed into a private garden setting for the vows, with the venue helping the couple create a more intimate atmosphere despite the size of the location.

Reports have said the wedding was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Zoë Kravitz, Brad Pitt, Conan O'Brien and Paul McCartney.

No official photographs or footage from the ceremony have been released, reflecting the couple's efforts to keep the event private.

Kelce's brother Jason, who co-hosts 'New Heights', said he had initially expected Sandler to bring a comedic element to the ceremony before recognising how naturally the actor's warmth suited the occasion.

'There's a sweetness in everything Adam does, like all of his movies,' Jason said. 'And there's a degree of it that I think really resonates with officiating a wedding.'

Travis explained that the choice of venue was intended to give the couple a private setting while allowing their guests to celebrate without unnecessary distractions.

'We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions,' he said. 'And we needed it to be a private feel. And MSG went above and beyond to give us that.'

No-Phone Rule Kept Guests in the Moment

A strict no-phone policy was another measure used to protect the privacy of the celebration. Kelce said the restriction allowed guests to interact more freely without worrying about being photographed or recording the event.

'It was so cool to see how everybody interacted, and with no phones comes people not having to be on guard,' he said. 'It makes everyone be in the moment and be present.'

Jason recalled being struck by the unusual mix of celebrities and people from the brothers' personal lives who were able to mingle during the celebration.

'I saw Brad Pitt hugging Conan O'Brien. I see Paul McCartney, and then all of a sudden I see Mrs Clark,' he said, referring to a former teacher from the brothers' school. 'And I'm like, what in the world?'

A Night Built Around the Vows

The celebration was designed around the ceremony and a relaxed evening with family and friends rather than a highly structured reception. Kelce described the occasion as 'a night we'll never forget'.

'Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, from the vows to just seeing everyone, to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening. It was just so magical, man,' he said.

Kelce admitted that his main regret was how quickly the evening appeared to pass. Jason joked that venue staff eventually 'kicked us out', while Travis explained that guests began leaving after the bar closed.

During the podcast, Kelce also showed off his gold wedding band. 'I am a married man,' he said after Jason declared him officially wed.

The couple's wedding came after years of public interest in their relationship, which began in 2023 when Kelce attended Swift's Eras Tour concert in Kansas City.

Since the ceremony, Kelce has returned to Missouri for Kansas City Chiefs training camp, while Swift has attended friends' weddings in California and London. Swift has not publicly discussed the ceremony in detail, although her representative previously confirmed the marriage and Sandler's involvement as officiant.
