'It Was Absolutely Insane': Travis Kelce Reveals Adam Sandler's Emotional Role at His Secret Taylor Swift Wedding

Travis Kelce has revealed that Adam Sandler got ordained in New York to officiate his and Taylor Swift's private wedding at Madison Square Garden, describing the July ceremony as 'absolutely insane'.

Speaking on the season premiere of his 'New Heights' podcast on Wednesday, the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end, said Sandler took on the role especially for the occasion. 'He has been just the best person on this planet,' Kelce told listeners.

'For him to be up for getting ordained in the state of New York and marrying me and Taylor in the way he did, in the very Sandman style and giving us more than we could have ever imagined in that moment, knowing that it was the biggest night of both of our lives. It was absolutely insane, man.'

How MSG Was Transformed for the Ceremony

The venue was transformed into a private garden setting for the vows. Among those reported to have attended were Ed Sheeran, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Tom Cruise, Zoë Kravitz, Brad Pitt, Conan O'Brien and Paul McCartney, though no official photographs or footage have been released.

Kelce's brother Jason, who co-hosts the podcast, admitted he had expected a comedic turn from Sandler before realising the actor's warmth suited the occasion. 'There's a sweetness in everything Adam does, like all of his movies,' Jason said. 'And there's a degree of it that I think really resonates with officiating a wedding.'

Travis explained that the choice of venue was designed to create intimacy despite its scale. 'We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions,' he said. 'And we needed it to be a private feel. And MSG went above and beyond to give us that.'

No-Phone Rule Kept Guests in the Moment

Central to that privacy was a strict no-phone policy for guests, which Kelce said allowed attendees to relax without fear of being photographed. 'It was so cool to see how everybody interacted, and with no phones comes people not having to be on guard,' he said. 'It makes everyone be in the moment and be present.'

Jason described the unusual mix of guests mingling freely, recalling one particular moment. 'I saw Brad Pitt hugging Conan O'Brien.

I see Paul McCartney, and then all of a sudden I see Mrs Clark,' he said, referring to a former teacher from the brothers' school. 'And I'm like, what in the world?'

A Night Built Around the Vows

The evening avoided a formal seated structure in favour of a looser celebration built around the vows. Travis called it simply 'a night we'll never forget', adding: 'Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up, from the vows to just seeing everyone, to how much fun we had throughout the entire evening. It was just so magical, man.'

He admitted one regret: that the night passed too quickly. Jason joked that venue staff eventually 'kicked us out', with Travis noting that once the bar closed, guests began to leave.

During the podcast, Kelce also showed off his gold wedding band. 'I am a married man,' he said, after Jason declared him officially wed.

Since the ceremony, Kelce has returned to Missouri for Chiefs training camp, while Swift has attended friends' weddings in California and London. Swift has not personally commented publicly on the wedding, although her representative previously confirmed the marriage and Sandler's role as officiant.
