Rihanna and Chris Brown
Law & Order: SVU has reportedly portrayed the couple’s past relationship for a forthcoming episode.

Rihanna and Chris Brown's turbulent relationship is being put in the spotlight after NBC's hit crime series Law & Order: SVU decided to portray the couple's history in a forthcoming episode.

The episode, which airs later this month, revolves around an emerging singer and her famous but abusive boyfriend.

According to the New York Daily News, the thinly-disguised episode, entitled Funny Valentine, has taken inspiration from the Diamonds hitmaker and Brown, who have dominated headlines since reuniting last year.

The premise bears an hard-to-miss resemblance to the duo's tumultuous love affair. Caleb Brown, played by Eugene Jones, regularly beats his girlfriend Micha Charles, played by Tiffany Robinson, but she refuses to cooperate in prosecution despite the efforts of assistant district attorney Barba (Raul Esparza) to build a case.

One unimpressed fan that watched the promo said: "This just goeeessss to show what people will do for ratings!!!! I hope no one watches!! You judge mental pricks!! #chrianna 24/7."

The couple split in 2009 after Brown was arrested for assaulting Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Awards party. He is still on probation.

Last month the 25-year-old Umbrella singer confirmed that they had reunited.

"He's not the monster everybody thinks," she told Rolling Stone magazine. "He's a good person. He has a fantastic heart. He's giving and loving. And he's fun to be around."

This is not the first time a superstar couple's turbulent relationship has inspired film.

What's Love Got to Do With It was famously based on Tina Turner's rise to stardom with her abusive husband Ike Turner, and how she gained the courage to break free.
