Andy Cohen and boyfriend Kevin Sobieski have taken their relationship into the public spotlight, but their latest romantic milestone is not an engagement.

The Watch What Happens Live host and the businessman made their first public event appearance together on 26 August, marking a significant step after Cohen spent months gradually opening up about the man he says has become part of his family.

Despite the couple's increasingly serious relationship, Cohen, 58, has not announced that he and Sobieski are engaged.

Instead, the 'big step' in their romance refers to the pair attending a public event together for the first time. Cohen and Sobieski appeared at friend John Mayer's live SiriusXM performance in the Hamptons, New York, on 26 August.

The outing came more than two months after Cohen revealed publicly that he was in a serious relationship, although he initially stopped short of naming his boyfriend.

Speaking on his SiriusXM podcast in June, the longtime Bravo producer said he had 'met the person' and offered a rare insight into why the relationship had become so important to him.

'This man is kind, and strong, and smart, and he is an adult,' Cohen said. 'And he loves my children, and they love him, and I love him.'

Andy Cohen and Kevin Sobieski Make Public Debut

Sobieski's identity became public in June when pop culture expert Nessa Diab discussed Cohen's new romance during a 4 June appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle.

The couple's appearance in the Hamptons represents another shift for a relationship Cohen had previously approached carefully, particularly when it came to bringing Sobieski into his family life.

Cohen is the father of two children, son Benjamin Allen and daughter Lucy Eve, and has said Sobieski has developed a close relationship with both.

'We have been so slow and deliberate and methodical about getting to know each other, and introducing him to the kids, and just entering him into the equation of my family so slowly,' Cohen said.

He added: 'It has been so easy. One year later, I still can't believe I found him.'

How Did Andy Cohen and Kevin Sobieski Meet?

Cohen has revealed that his relationship with Sobieski began after they met at a Fourth of July party in 2025.

The television personality said they talked throughout the night before he made sure Sobieski had his phone number.

'I very methodically put my number in his phone,' Cohen recalled, adding that he checked twice to make sure the number was correct.

Their first public event together therefore came more than a year after their initial meeting, following what Cohen has described as a deliberately gradual approach to their relationship.

Sobieski Is Still Discovering Andy Cohen's Bravo World

While Kevin Sobieski has become familiar with Cohen's family, one major part of the television host's life remains relatively new to him: the Real Housewives franchise.

Cohen revealed on TODAY on 5 August that his boyfriend had never watched an episode of the Bravo reality series.

He said Sobieski's social media algorithm had begun showing him Housewives-related content, giving him a glimpse into the sprawling reality television world closely associated with Cohen.

Cohen, however, said Sobieski's lack of Real Housewives knowledge does not bother him.

'He loves my kids and me, and that's what's important,' Cohen said. 'But I'll get him there.'
