Preview

Jamie Murray and his partner Soares booked their place in the final of the men's doubles with a straight sets semi-final win. The pair saw off the challenge of French duo Lucas Pouille and Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-1 in Melbourne.

Murray and Soares only struck their partnership at the beginning of the year after the Scot split with John Peers at the end of the 2015 season. However, the match on Rod Laver Arena will be their third final in three grand slam tournaments. Standing in their way in the final are the unseeded partnership of Daniel Nestor and Radek Stepanek.

The 43-year-old Canadian and his Czech partner had played only one match together prior to the tournament, but have been in stunning form in Melbourne. They confirmed their place in the final with another impressive victory against Marcel Granollers of Spain and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay.

What the players say

Jamie Murray: "I'm starting to get the hang of this game, I think. It took me a long time to understand what it took to win, and to perform at optimum level every time you step on the court.

"I've been lucky, I had a great partner for the last few years in John Peers and am now starting a new journey with Bruno here. It's been a great two weeks for us and hopefully with one more match we can get over the final hurdle."

Daniel Nestor: "I thought it was a good opportunity to play with Radek. At my age, I haven't been doing that well the last few years and obviously in the back of my mind, retiring is always there. Being away from my family, I want to play with someone I feel I can win with, and I felt like that with Radek."
