Overview

Barbados Tridents have had a disappointing CPL 2016 so far, losing more games than they have won, and are currently placed second from bottom in the points table with seven points from eight games.

They come into this clash on the back of a seven-wicket loss to St Lucia Zouks on 23 July in a rain-hit game. The loss of South African AB de Villiers who flew back home to train with the national team has left a big void in the batting.

What has also hurt them is that their big players in Ahmed Shehzad, Shoaib Malik and skipper Kieron Pollard have failed to get going, putting pressure on the inexperienced players in the team.

The bowling attack, barring Ravi Rampaul, has struggled helping the opposition to pile up huge scores.

The Tridents will need to ensure that they win both their remaining encounters if they are to make it to the play-off stage.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors, currently placed in the second spot with 10 points from eight games played, need just one more win to reach the play-off stage. The Warriors too come into this clash on the back of a loss to the same team, the St Lucia Zouks thrashing them by nine-wickets on 24 July.

Australian Chris Lynn has been in sensational form for Guyana scoring 332 in eight games. He is currently the top run scorer in the tournament while the team also boast of having arguably the best bowling line-up in the tournament with leading wicket-taker Sohail Tanvir and spinner Adam Zampa standing out.

With just one win required, Guyana will look to seal their play-off spot by beating Barbados.
