Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor battle it out for the interim featherweight title during the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Fight Night 189 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, on 11 July.

Where to watch live

The Main Card event starts at 3am BST (Sunday, 12 July). Live coverage is on BT Sport 2 and BT Sport app. Live streaming of the link is available on UFC's official website. The fight between Mendes and McGregor is set to start at 4:50am BST (Sunday).

Overview

The event was initially scheduled between defending featherweight champion Jose Aldo and McGregor. However, Aldo sustained a rib fracture on 23 June and a day later it was confirmed he had suffered a bone bruise, which forced him to withdraw from the bout.

Aldo was replaced by Mendes and he will face the Irish fighter for the interim championship in Las Vegas. It will be the first time Reebok fight kits will be used after they were revealed on 30 June.

As of now, Mendes is the firm favourite. Mendes and McGregor have lost twice, both the latter's losses coming by submission.

What they say

Joe Rogan: "Chad Mendes is a legit super athlete. He's a monster. Serious athlete ...Chad Mendes knocked Ricardo Lamas dead – dead – with just one punch. He just smashes dudes."

"I think Chad Mendes easily could be as big a star as Conor McGregor. He doesn't talk like McGregor, but neither did Georges St-Pierre. Georges St-Pierre was the biggest pay-per-view star of all-time because he was a gentleman."
