The Dark Knight Rises is featured in a new full-length trailer.

The third and final part of Christopher Nolan's Batman saga looks set to raise the stakes even higher than The Dark Knight, as new enemy Bane, played by Tom Hardy, wreaks havoc in Gotham.

Following the critical and box office success of The Dark Knight, fan anticipation could not be higher for the closing chapter of the series, which looks set to continue its dark tone.

The sombre style of the trailer suggests that this could represent Batman's (Christian Bale's) toughest challenge, while fans of the comic series - specifically the Knightfall storyline - will know that the tagline "The Legend Ends" could prove apt.

Concerns have been raised that Hardy's Bane, who wears a face mask throughout the film, is hard to understand.

Anne Hathaway joins the film series as Selena Kyle, a woman who later becomes Catwoman, although whether Nolan will treat the character as a hero or villain remains to be seen.

The Dark Knight Rises is released on 20 July, when it will compete against Avengers Assemble as the most popular comic book film of the year.
