Does Roblox Founder David Baszucki Have Children? Question Rise After Platform Threatens YouTuber Exposing Sexual Predators
Roblox averages 85.3 million daily active users, with 40% under 13, amplifying concerns

David Baszucki, co-founder and CEO of Roblox Corporation, faces scrutiny over child safety concerns on the platform, prompting public curiosity about his family life.
A recent controversy involving a cease-and-desist notice sent to a YouTuber exposing alleged predators on Roblox has intensified demands for Baszucki's resignation, with a Change.org petition garnering over 30,000 signatures.
Amid this, questions about whether Baszucki has children have surfaced, reflecting public interest in his personal stake in the platform's safety.
Baszucki's Family Background
David Baszucki, born 20 January 1963 in Winnipeg, Canada, is married to Jan Ellison Baszucki, an author and mental health advocate. The couple has four children: one son, Dylan, and three daughters, Emma, Jenna, and Matt.
They reside in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they co-founded the Baszucki Group in 2021, a philanthropy focused on mental health research, inspired by their son's bipolar disorder diagnosis.
Jan Ellison's novel, A Small Indiscretion, published on 20 January 2015, highlight her literary career. The family's advocacy, including Dylan's appearance on the TODAY show discussing mental health, underscores their public profile.

This personal context fuels interest in Baszucki's approach to Roblox's safety, given his role as a father.
Roblox's Child Safety Controversy
The controversy erupted on 9 August 2025, when YouTuber Schlep posted on X, stating, 'Every account I've made on Roblox has been terminated, and Roblox sent a cease-and-desist letter to me. Not a single Roblox predator I've gotten arrested has faced any action similar to this.'

His video, titled "Roblox Is Threatening to Sue Me For Protecting Kids," amassed over 1.1 million views in two days, alleging Roblox prioritised silencing critics over addressing predator issues.
A Change.org petition launched on 10 August by user MrMhGaming demands Baszucki's removal, claiming, 'The children of Roblox are at stake of what the CEO is allowing,' only adds to more testing times for Roblox and Baszucki.
Reports indicate Roblox averages 85.3 million daily active users, with 40% under 13, amplifying concerns. A Bloomberg investigation noted 24 arrests since 2018 linked to predators using Roblox to groom or abduct victims.
Despite Roblox's claims of AI-driven safety measures, critics argue these are insufficient, with Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier issuing a subpoena on 16 April 2025 to investigate marketing to children.
Public and Corporate Response
Roblox's response includes new safety features rolled out in July 2025, such as age estimation and trusted connections, as Baszucki told Texas Public Radio, 'I want to highlight we've been innovating on safety for almost 20 years now.'
However, critics like Damon De Ionno of Revealing Reality argue, 'The new safety features don't go far enough.'
X user @Elisopod, promoting the petition on 10 August, stated, 'Found out that Roblox doesn't care about kids safety,'

Conversely, X user @QUNproductions posted on 13 August, 'Despite growing concern, Roblox seems to have made little impact when preventing it's platform being used by children,'

Roblox's market value stands at £63.2 billion ($85.8 billion).
Baszucki's March 2025 comment to the BBC, 'If you're not comfortable, don't let your kids be on Roblox,' drew backlash for shifting responsibility to parents.
As Congress considers COPPA 2.0 to enhance online protections for those under 17, Baszucki's leadership remains under pressure.
The platform's next steps will shape its reputation and the trust of millions of young users and their families.
