Are Kid Rock and Eminem Still Friends? '7 Sins' Switch Raises Questions Amid Political Differences
Kid Rock praised his friendship with Eminem despite their opposing political views

Kid Rock's recent comments about his decades-long friendship with Eminem have taken an interesting turn after the rapper was suddenly replaced by Lil Wayne on his upcoming song '7 Sins'. The announcement, made on Wednesday, surprised fans who had expected Eminem to feature prominently on the record.
The change came just weeks after Kid Rock praised their ability to remain friends despite supporting opposing political figures. With Eminem's name disappearing from the tracklist, speculation grew over whether the two Detroit musicians have fallen out or whether there is another explanation behind the last-minute switch.
Why Did Eminem Leave Kid Rock's '7 Sins'?
The confusion began on 1 October when Kid Rock unveiled a tracklist naming Eminem as a guest on '7 Sins'. The pairing immediately drew criticism from fans uncomfortable with their political differences.
Nearly two weeks later, Kid Rock revealed an updated tracklist, with Lil Wayne taking Eminem's place. The change initially looked like a cancelled collaboration, but Kid Rock confirmed the rapper had simply moved to another song.
According to Kid Rock's account to the Detroit Free Press, the pair had recorded material for two tracks. 'Heal My Faith' came first, after Kid Rock asked Eminem for songwriting help and received a complete recorded verse.
Eminem subsequently recorded for '7 Sins', which Kid Rock initially preferred for the album. After seeing the announced tracklist, Eminem asked to return to their earlier collaboration.
Kid Rock agreed and recruited Lil Wayne to contribute to '7 Sins' instead. The revised songs were finalised shortly before the album's release.

Friendship Beyond Politics
Their friendship stretches back nearly four decades to Detroit's music scene, long before either became a household name. Eminem featured on Kid Rock's 1998 song 'F*ck Off', from the album Devil Without a Cause. Kid Rock later appeared in the video for Eminem's 2013 single 'Berzerk'.
Their political positions, however, have diverged sharply. Kid Rock is a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump, while Eminem has publicly criticised Trump and supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
Despite these differences, Kid Rock has repeatedly insisted their disagreements have never ended their friendship. He has described Eminem as a 'class act' in recent interviews.
'We said years ago, "Man, let's not let politics divide us." And we never did,' he said during an appearance on My View with Lara Trump. In the album's foreword, Kid Rock wrote that the musicians 'differ politically and on other things' but have remained friends, expressing hope that their collaboration could encourage others.
Addressing the Collaboration Backlash
Speaking to the media, Kid Rock said he had initially hesitated to involve Eminem in his political world. He also recalled Eminem acknowledging the support Kid Rock gave him during his early Detroit career. Kid Rock said the verse on 'Heal My Faith' reflects that history.
In a video announcing the revised tracklist, Kid Rock addressed criticism from listeners who objected to their collaboration. He stressed that musicians with different political beliefs could still work together.
Eminem has not publicly given a detailed explanation for the switch. The updated tracklist, however, confirms their collaboration remains scheduled for release.
