Erika Kirk Hilariously Defends Her 'Freudian Slip' After Calling Late Husband Charlie Kirk a 'Grifter'
Erika Kirk draws mixed reaction after calling Charlie Kirk a 'grifter'

Erika Kirk recently graced the stage at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest event this past weekend. While there, the 37-year-old paid tribute to her late husband, Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September, but a shocking slip of the tongue has overshadowed the memorial.
During one of her speeches, Erika mistakenly used the word "' instead of 'grit' while talking about Charlie. She immediately laughed off the error, but the moment was quickly dubbed the 'Greatest Freudian slip of all time' by online critics who claimed "the truth slips out"'.
Erika Kirk's Hilarious Save
According to Erika, it has been a long day, which caused her to mix up the words on the queue cards. She also stressed that her husband is not a grifter and reiterated that she wasn't trying to insinuate that Charlie was.
'Despite the devastating loss of Charlie Kirk, my incredible husband... Caleb has persisted with the same grift. It has been a long day. Trust me, you're not a grifter, honey. It's all good,' Erika said while laughing.

Reactions to Erika Kirk's 'Freudian Slip'
On X, hundreds of people shared their opinions about the error.
'Greatest Freudian slip of all time followed by shameless grin of all time,' one person wrote. 'Too many slips these days,' another person commented. 'Sooner or later the truth slips out,' another person said. 'God, the body language is a dead giveaway every time,' another person wrote.
'That was a slip for the ages. Can't unsee it now,' wrote another social media user.
A Close Friendship With JD Vance
During the event, Erika also showed her full support for Vice President JD Vance to become the next president of the United States.'We are going to get my husband's friend, JD Vance, elected for 48 in the most resounding way possible,' she said, according to BBC.
The two previously made headlines after some supporters thought that their hug was a bit too touchy-feely intimate, especially for someone that just lost a husband. 'Erika Kirk with an inappropriate greeting in Mississippi—a romantic-like bear hug and over the top hair grab on J.D. Vance,' one observer wrote on social media.
'Too passionate. She has had virtually no grieving period either. Charlie's parents will not talk to her. Something is up with her...' another person said.
However, Erika has been adamant about saying that she adores Vance because he shares so many similarities with Charlie.

'No one will ever replace my husband. But I do see some similarities of my husband in JD— in Vice President JD Vance. I do. And that's why I am so blessed to be able to introduce him tonight,' Erika said at an event in Mississippi.
While speaking with Fox News, Erika also called Vance a blessing in her life. She also described him and his wife, Usha Vance, as incredible people.
'He's been a blessing. Him and Usha, they are the most incredible people. Incredible. With such genuine love. I mean, just everything they did for us was so humanized. They just, they were there for us. They've been there for us,' she gushed.
The CEO of Turning Point USA also revealed that the Mississippi event had already been planned even before Charlie passed away. Erika said that she and Vance simply wanted to push through with it because this is what Charlie would've wanted.
