Overview

Lopez comes into the game having got the better of Novak Djokovic, who pulled out of the game after suffering an eye problem. The Serbian did not take any chances with the entire season still left to play, giving Lopez a free pass into the next round. Credit to the Spaniard, he beat Djokovic 6-3 in the first set but the game had to be abandoned after the Australian Open winner failed to make it out before the second set was about to start.

The world number 24 will have no qualms over the development and will be favourites going into the match given his experience in world ATP tours, a significant advantage over his rival. However, the duo have played each other four times, with Baghdatis coming on top on three occasions, compared to Lopez who came on top only once. However, the duo have not met each since 2012 and will be looking to resume hostilities as the 30-year-old looks to progress into his first ATP World final.

Baghdatis got the better of Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 6-0 to progress but was in a world of trouble in the first set when he struggled to get his first serve in. With a first serve success rate of only 37%, he had to save three breaks to stay in the contest, which gave him confidence and he went on to blank Agut in the final and decisive set.
