Manchester United suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Fenerbahce in the Europa League clash at Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, Istanbul on 3 November. Two sensational goals from the Turkish club were sufficient for them to seal three points in the European competition.

Moussa Sow opened the scoring with an overhead kick in the second minute that left Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea and the rest of the players stunned. Jose Mourinho's side failed to get past Fenerbahce's defence as the first half ended in at 1-0 in favour of the hosts.

World record signing Paul Pogba picked up an injury, which forced him to be withdrawn in the 30th minute and was replaced by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, the Swedish striker had limited influence as he continued to struggle to put the ball into the net.

Jeremain Lens, who is on a season-long loan from Sunderland, doubled the lead for Dick Advocaat's side from a brilliant free-kick. Wayne Rooney pulled one back for the visitors in the 89th minute, which was not sufficient for United to bag three points.

Meanwhile, Feyenoord and Zorya Luhansk settled for a 1-1 draw, which leaves Fenerbahce on top of the table with seven points, level on points with the Dutch side, who are second on the table. United are third with six points, while Zorya sit at the bottom of Group A with two points.

Mourinho every right to blame the players tonight. None of them looked arsed at all. Let the entire club down from management to fans. #mufc

@ManUtd Mourinho is doing what he wants rather than what the club needs. #mufc have never lost a game with Mata starting the game.#MUFC
