Israeli actress Gal Gadot is set to play DC Comics's Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman vs Superman film.

The 28-year-old, who is best known for playing Gisele in three of the Fast & Furious films alongside co-stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, talked about the moment she was informed she would play the part.

"[My agent] says to me 'Wonder Woman!' and I'm like 'What??' – 'The role is yours!...and it's a secret and the news are not yet announced and you can't tell anyone...'. I'm saying to her 'Are you serious??'- and we both scream!" she said, "Now it's a plane from Israel to NY and I can't make loud noise, and so I lean on a window, bending down to my legs, and just try to understand."

"I was telling myself 'It's not real!'...it shouldn't be like that, I'm supposed to be like... 'where's the champagne?,'" she added.

Gadot is the first movie Wonder Woman. Previously, Lynda Carter played the character Wonder Woman on TV in the 1970s. Adrianna Palicki was in a Wonder Woman pilot but it never made its big screen debut.

"Wonder Woman is a one-breasted Greek Amazonian woman, so if I were to really go 'by the book' -- that would be a problem," she joked, adding that she "represent[s] the Wonder Woman of the new world."

Meanwhile, director Zack Snyder had previously said Gabot would bring a "magical quality" to the role.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," he said.

"Not only is Gal an amazing actress but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."
