Homeless Man Had $107,000 In Account
A forensic team removes body of Gerry Donnelly from Phoenix Park in Dublin (Garda - Irish Police)

A man who was killed while sleeping rough in a Dublin park had approximately £107,000 in a bank account after selling a property eight years ago.

The victim, Gerry Donnelly, appears to have chosen to live outdoors in Dublin's famous Phoenix Park as a lifestyle choice.

Officers confirmed that Donnelly, in his late 30s, carried large sums of money on his person and kept a substantial amount of money in his sleeping bag when he slept rough.

It is also reported that Donnelly had a property to live in and had access to the large sum of money in his bank account.

He was discovered by police on a routine patrol. He had burned to death in a sleep bag, suffering facial injuries.

A 17-year-old girl, a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old man have all been arrested in connection with Donnelly's murder in the early hours of Friday 29th November.

It is believed that the victim may have spoken about his financial situation in the past and this may have played a part in his death.

He has no immediate family and a post-mortem examination indicated that he had only been sleeping rough for a short time.
