Anticipation is mounting ahead of Apple's September 2025 event, where the iPhone 17 Pro is widely expected to be unveiled. The device will arrive as the company's next flagship model, forming part of the iPhone 17 range.

Alongside the new handsets, Apple is also set to release iOS 26, the next major software update for iPhone users. With both hardware and software updates approaching, attention in the UK is turning to when the devices will be available and what upgrades may be in store.

When Will the iPhone 17 Pro Arrive?

Industry reports suggest Apple will hold its annual autumn keynote on Tuesday 9 September 2025. According to outlets including Tom's Guide, the event is expected to showcase the full iPhone 17 line, including the Pro model.

Pre-orders are forecast to begin on Friday 12 September, with general availability from Friday 19 September. Analysts note this schedule matches Apple's established pattern of opening orders within days of an announcement and shipping devices a week later, reported 9to5Mac.

iOS 26: When Will It Launch?

Apple first introduced iOS 26 at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2025. The company described the update as featuring a 'stunning new design' with enhancements to Apple Intelligence, messaging and interface tools.

Developer and public beta versions have already been released, with the wider public beta becoming available in late July, reported MacRumors. The final version is expected to launch in mid-September, most likely on 15 or 16 September. This would place the software update just days before the iPhone 17 Pro reaches UK stores.

What Else Might Apple Reveal at the Event?

In addition to the iPhone 17 range, Apple is expected to showcase a number of other devices at the September keynote. Reports from outlets such as The Economic Times point to likely updates for the HomePod, Apple Watch and AirPods lines, while speculation on community forums such as Reddit has suggested possible refreshes across Apple's broader product portfolio.

On the iPhone 17 Pro specifically, rumoured improvements include Apple's A19 Pro chip, enhanced camera systems, a ProMotion OLED display, 12GB RAM, titanium or aluminium build, and reverse wireless charging, according to TechRadar. The iPhone 17 Air, meanwhile, is tipped to feature a 5.5–6mm profile in place of the Plus model, offering a slimmer design at a mid-tier price point.

For UK consumers, analysts expect launch pricing to mirror current levels, with the Pro model likely starting at around £1,099. Availability is anticipated across major carriers such as EE, O2, Vodafone and Three, alongside Apple's own retail stores and online channels.

The Outlook

If Apple follows its usual schedule, the iPhone 17 Pro will be announced on 9 September, with pre-orders opening on 12 September and UK availability from 19 September. iOS 26 is tipped to arrive a few days earlier, introducing its redesigned interface and new AI tools.

The company therefore faces the challenge of delivering updated hardware alongside a significant software overhaul. For UK consumers, the next month will show whether the iPhone 17 Pro can match expectations, and whether iOS 26 provides the step forward in usability and design that Apple has promised.
