Iran will take on Thailand in the eighth match of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup the Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. These two sides are in Pool A and will face each other on 9 October, Sunday.

Meraj Sheykh saw his side register a comfortable victory over the Unites States in their first match of the tournament. They final scoreline was 52-15, which went in the Asian side's favour and they will be looking for another victory on Sunday.

Having several star players like Sheykh, Fazel Atrachali and Md Maghsoudlou, who have played in the Pro Kabaddi League in India will give Iran an advantage. They are one of the firm favourites to make it to the last four of the ongoing World Cup.

Meanwhile, Thailand are making their third consecutive appearance in the tournament. In the previous World Cup in 2007, they lost to Iran in the quarter-final. Tin Phonchoo, who played for Dabang Delhi in the Pro Kabaddi League will be leading the South-East Asian side.
