As James Murdoch is called to the Leveson Trial, for a second time he blamed subordinates for keeping him in the dark about illegal behaviour. He was also questioned about his closeness to British political leaders, and the relationship between politicians and the media.

At the start of the inquiry he was asked by Robert Jay QC whether he read the News of the World or The Sun?

Murdoch said he was assured that the paper had been fully investigated at every level.

The questioning then focused on the papers commitment to David Cameron and the Conservatives after supporting New Labour.

He finished by adding that the papers backing of the conservatives wouldn't have had any impact and was a crass calculation about what the newspapers did.
