Fabiola Alejandra Caicedo Piña, a 19-year-old TikTok user known by the handle 'China Baby,' was found dead and dismembered in Lima, Peru, earlier in June 2025. According to reports, her remains were recovered from a water filtration system in the district of El Agustino on 9 June, just four days after she posted her final video on the platform.

Fabiola had built a modest following online, where she shared videos of herself dancing and posing. Her TikTok account had attracted just under 5,000 followers. According to La República, she was reported missing by her cousin two days before the discovery of her body.

One line of investigation being pursued by Peruvian police is whether her death was an act of revenge linked to the 2022 death of her former boyfriend, Meiner Jiménez Castillo, whose case remains unsolved. On the other hand, the police are also exploring the possibility that the young woman's killing is linked to human trafficking.

Who Was Fabiola Alejandra?

Fabiola was a Venezuelan national who moved to Peru as a minor alongside her then-boyfriend, Meiner Jiménez Castillo. She gained a small following on TikTok under the username 'China Baby', where she posted short videos and personal updates. Her content had attracted over 5,000 followers before her death.

According to La República, Fabiola left Venezuela without telling her family. Her relatives later confirmed she was not forced to leave, and that she had gone willingly with Castillo. 'They both left peacefully,' a family member told the outlet. 'She never told us she was leaving; she just left and that was it.'

Link to Ex-Boyfriend's Mysterious Death

The mystery surrounding Fabiola's death deepens due to its possible connection to the earlier death of her ex-boyfriend, Meiner Jiménez Castillo. Castillo was found dead on the outskirts of Lima in 2022 in circumstances that remain unexplained.

Following his death, some of Castillo's family members reportedly directed accusations and hostility towards Fabiola online. While some of his relatives believed Fabiola was responsible, others suspected suicide. There is no indication Fabiola was formally investigated in relation to his death.

The online harassment reportedly continued in the years that followed, adding further distress to Fabiola's situation.

Police Investigate Possible Trafficking Link

Authorities are now looking into whether Fabiola's killing is linked to criminal trafficking groups, particularly given the brutality involved. According to them, her other body parts were recovered later in separate locations near the water plant.

According to investigators, they were able to identify her based on the distinctive tattoos she had on her body, including the phrase 'Love me for who I am' in English on her arm.

Investigators believe that the manner in which her body was mutilated bears similarities to punishment methods used by trafficking networks, and they also think that there is a possibility that she may have been strangled as well.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named by the police.

Death Adds to String of Influencer Tragic Deaths

Fabiola's death is the latest in a string of tragic incidents involving young online creators. In recent months, several TikTokers and influencers have died in sudden or violent circumstances.

In March 2025, 16-year-old TikTok star Joshua Blackledge died after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Meanwhile, on 20 June, Mikayla Raines, a popular YouTuber known for her fox rescue work in Faribault, Minnesota, died by suicide after reportedly facing online harassment. Her husband, Ethan, described the loss as 'unimaginable' and vowed to continue her mission through the SaveAF.

Meanwhile, in Fabiola's case, the authorities continue to investigate the cause and the motive behind her tragic death as her family awaits answers.
