Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has hailed the recent additions of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can but still hopes Brendan Rodgers can make more signings during the summer transfer window.

The Reds have already spend around £40m in securing the services of the midfield duo and the former Southampton striker.

However, with Luis Suarez expected to complete his move to Barcelona in the coming days, Enrique still hopes for further additions to cope with a busy season where the Reds will have to find a balance between European and domestic duties once again.

"Lambert and Lallana had been doing really well for Southampton. Emre Can, as well, they say is really good," the Spaniard said to Liverpool official website.

"Hopefully with a few more additions, we can compete for good things. We have already improved the squad because we have signed players after we finished second last year.

"The club are bringing good names here as well. Hopefully there'll be more names, but we are really happy with the squad. I'm really looking forward to the season."

The Spaniard will also be like a new signing for Rodgers after being side-lined for much of last season following his knee injury in November.

He has already started pre-season training with the rest of the squad on Monday at the club's Melwood training ground and is now looking forward the start of the new campaign.

"This year we'll play in the Champions League, which I've never played in yet in my career. I'm so much looking forward to that. But we have to do really well again in the league; we have so many competitions this year."
