11th July 2011: all latest football transfer rumours involving Juventus
The pick of today's football transfer rumours from Juventus including the Serie A giant's move for Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder Arturo Vidal, Juventus' move for Lyon's highly rated Brazilian winger Michel Bastos and the sensational news that the Italian giants are set to rival Arsenal's bid for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle.
Sky Sports have revealed that Juventus are in pole position to sign Bayer Leverkusen defensive midfielder Arturo Vidal. The Chilean international has revealed that Juventus are interested in signing him and he has given the strongest indication yet that he would be willing to swap the Bundesliga for Serie A. Vidal, commenting from Chile's training ground said: 'Juventus? Yes, there is a possibility, but I will decide my future after the Copa America. I must think about my future and Juventus would be a good opportunity for me.'
The defensive midfielder has attracted much attention from some of Europe's elite clubs this summer with Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller admitting that Vidal is being chased by a number of clubs. Voller is quoted by Corriere dello Sport as saying: 'Arturo is a highly-coveted player. There are many clubs who want to buy him. We will only sell him in the summer when an offer that we deem appropriate comes. In any case, we hope he can stay with us.'
Juventus are also said to be leading the race to sign Lyon winger Michel Bastos. The samba star has become one of Europe's hottest properties over the past seasons with his performances in the UEFA Champions League catching the eye of some of Europe's top clubs. His representative Emmanuel De Kerchove said: "All of them are big clubs and, indeed, two of them called me to find out if the player would be interested and to possibly speak to him about their project.
Juventus are said to be working overtime to secure a deal to sign the winger. Lyon has said they will allow the player to leave for the 'right price' and it has been suggested in France and Italy that Bastos' first choice is Juventus.
In one of the most surprising transfer rumours so far this summer Juventus are said to be lining up a sensational bid to land Wolves striker Kevin Doyle from under the noses of Barclay's Premier League club Arsenal. Ireland's Sunday World reported that Juventus are now ready to go head to head with Arsenal for Doyle who impressed Juventus scouts in last year's World Cup qualifiers against Italy. Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has backed his former club to make a bid for the player and Doyle will sit down with Wolves in the coming days to discuss his future.
A source close to the deal said: 'There is definite interest in Kevin from Arsenal and Juventus," revealed a source close to the deal. Talks are planned with Wolves over a new contract, but a move is certainly possible this summer. Kevin loves playing for Wolves and especially enjoys working with Mick McCarthy, but it would be impossible to turn down the chance to play for clubs like Juventus and Arsenal.'
