Glamour model and businesswoman Katie Price has announced she is pregnant - just five weeks after getting married to her third husband, Kieran Hayler.

The 34-year-old celebrity discovered she was expecting again shortly after her Bahamas wedding last month, which came after a brief romance with the 25-year-old, who starred as a stripper in BBC soap EastEnders.

She said the news was unexpected but she was delighted to be welcoming a new addition to her family.

"It has come as a shock. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous because I have experienced miscarriages in the past," she told the Sun on Sunday.

"We are over the moon. A baby wasn't part of our plans at this stage but anyone who knows me knows I am not one for sticking to rules and plans."

After the news broke, Katie took to Twitter to thank fans for their good wishes.

"Thank you soo much for all the lovely messages xxxx," she said.

Price already has three children - Harvey, 10, whose biological father is Dwight York, and Junior, seven, and Princess, five, with first husband Peter Andre.

She defended her decision to wed again, saying it was only her third time.

"This is only my third marriage. I did my own Pricey Marriage Survey and discovered I was in good company. Joan Collins has been married five times, Liz Taylor did eight and Zsa Zsa Gabor nine.

"So there! I get stick, but no one has picked on them for all the marriages they've had.

"I know my marriage to Kieran is going to attract criticism and that there will be people selling stories on the back of their perception of me and my decision. I will take that criticism on the chin and argue my corner where I feel it is necessary.

"As usual, I get a hard time for my choices because I'm me - I still don't really understand why."

The couple are reportedly planning to re-stage their wedding later this year after accepting a magazine deal for their forthcoming nuptial pictures.

Last year, Price was voted Celebrity Mum of The Year, beating off competition from Holly Willoughby and Victoria Beckham.

But fame and celebrity are fickle friends, and the newlywed glamour model was also voted as having the worst taste in Britain, according to a new study.

Over 39 per cent of those who took part in the survey think the former page three model has the tackiest appearance, dress and lifestyle of all celebrities, according a study by Total Greek Yoghurt.

Over the years, Price has proved a shrewd businesswoman. Her first big break came when she was 18 and posed as a Page Three model for the Sun, calling herself Jordan.

Her first wedding to pop star Peter Andre netted an estimated £1.75 million for exclusive pictures, and her second marriage to cage fighter Alex Reid took around £1 million.

She has signed a £1.5 million deal with Asda for her lingerie and swimwear range, a £1 million deal with Ashley Wilde for bed linen and her jewellery deal with Argos netted her £250,000 in the first year alone.

She is also responsible for various hair care products, cosmetics and perfumes alongside several books including children's stories, novels and three best-selling autobiographies. With sales of her subsequent eight novels now approaching five million, Price is one of Britain's best-selling authors

Price is said to keep money matters within the family, with her brother reportedly taking care of all her finances.

In 2006, she was put at No.2 in a Chav Rich List in the Daily Mail, with her and ex-husband Peter Andre valued at £30 million.

In June 2008, Price and Andre bought a seven-bedroom home in Woldingham, Surrey for £2.5 million, where Price still lives. They also had a £1.75 million Cyprus holiday home and a £4 million Los Angeles property.

According to the Sunday Times 'Young' Rich List 2009 Katie Price was worth £30 million, ranking her 12th and up from 17th in 2008.

Price believes that her working-class background with few privileges helped her no-nonsense approach to business.

"When you come from a background of no money there is always part of you that thinks you could go back to that place. I like to think I'm generous but not stupid with money," she told the Sun.

She added: "When I'm older, I'll be launching a range of pink mobility scooters and crystal-encrusted Zimmer frames."

Today, she is reputed to have amassed a fortune of £45 million.
