Overview

Kings XI Punjab come into this game after registering their second victory over Barbados Tridents last weekend. The win on Saturday came after sealing four points in the opening match against Hobart Hurricanes.

With two wins and eight points, Punjab sit second in the Group B table and are level on points with the Hurricanes, who have played three matches so far. With a victory over the New Zealand side, the 2014 Indian Premier League finalists will edge towards making it to the last four of the Champions League T20.

Meanwhile, Northern Knights saw their four-match unbeaten run in the ongoing competition come to an end with a defeat against Hobart Hurricanes. Daniel Flynn's side made it to the group stages after winning all three qualifying matches.

They also sealed their first four points of the group stages with a victory over Cape Cobras by the Duckworth–Lewis method. The Knights are aware that a defeat on Friday could possibly put a dent to their hopes of making it to the semi-finals of the Champions League T20.
