Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says victory over Leicester City proves he can trust his squad during the remainder of the season. The Argentine boss made eight changes for the FA Cup third round replay but goals from Heung-min Son and Nacer Chadli helped Spurs complete a comfortable victory.

The Foxes, the joint-leaders in the Premier League, made eight alterations themselves but were unable to recapture their fluidity as the north Londoners strolled into the fourth round. Son struck the first after being fed by Tom Carroll before Chadli fired home having been found by the South Korean in the second half to confirm the win.

Victory adds another game to Tottenham's ever-increasing fixture list, with a trip to League One side Colchester United to come, but Pochettino is unperturbed by the hectic schedule. Harry Kane and Dele Alli were only required for second half cameos at the King Power Stadium and despite having domestic and European commitments on the horizon the manager has good reason to trust his squad.

"I am very delighted and very pleased," the Tottenham boss told BBC Sport. "The performance was fantastic, it was great. I think that we dominated the game from the beginning until the end. This victory I think we deserved, it is a fair result and I am very pleased with the performance. Therefore, it was a fantastic game. [It was a] special goal for [Son], I am happy for him and Nacer Chadli too because it is always important when our offensive players have the possibility to score.

"It is always the same. My message is we are Tottenham we have strong squad in every game and every selection. It is important because when it is Tottenham playing it is important to be motivated. We are in a very difficult period and we need all the players to be motivated, working hard and always with the expectation that they can play consistently. I am very happy, it is all about the team and team work and today we showed that we have a strong squad."
