Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 2:05pm GMT. Live coverage is on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD. Catch the highlights of the match on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10:30pm GMT.

Overview

Liverpool enter the fixture after managing to avoid a defeat at the hands of Arsenal as the Reds settled for a 3-3 draw. Joe Allen's 90th minute goal forced the Gunners to leave Anfield with only a point.

Summer signing Roberto Firmino scored a brace against the north London club. The Brazil international is likely to lead Liverpool's attack against the Red Devils ahead of Christian Benteke. Jurgen Klopp has managed victories over Chelsea and Manchester City and will be looking to extend the run against the Old Trafford club.

United come into the fixture after settling for a point against Newcastle United. Paul Dummett's late strike saw the Tyneside club avoid defeat in their 3-3 draw against Louis van Gaal's side at St James's Park.

The last time the two teams met the Red Devils sealed a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford. Anthony Martial made his debut for United and scored his first goal against the Reds. He will be hoping to find the back of the net against Liverpool in order to help his side seal three points.

What Managers Say

Jurgen Klopp: "I love derbies. It's the salt in the soup. They are the best matches to perform. You will not win against Man United because you ran 145 miles or something," he added. "You have to make the right decisions."

Louis van Gaal: "In the circumstances of that [Newcastle] game, you have to win. We were disappointed but of course the fans have seen a match where we scored three goals, which was a long time ago! I think everybody is ready to play this game but you have to do it at the right time, at a different schedule, five past two. In those 90 or 95 minutes we have to show it."
