Madonna vowed fans and movie buffs as she swept the red carpet at the UK premiere of her new movie "W.E" at London's Odeon Theatre on Wednesday night.

Madonna, the co-director and co-producer of the movie, made an appearance at the event in full-length Jean Paul Gaultier black dress and red gloves and heels. The movie, which is slated to hit UK cinemas on January 20, deals with a romantic saga involving Britain's King Edward VIII and the American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The affair eventually led to the historic abdication of the king.

The movie, in fact, had to be re-edited after lukewarm responses at some film festivals last year.

"The movie shows that there is no such thing as perfect love. All love requires compromise or sacrifice. The other thing is that nothing is as it seems. You can look from the outside and think it's one thing but once you start investigating, it's something completely different," Madonna said.

Actors James d'Arcy and Andrea Riseborough joined Madge on the red carpet.
