Manchester United are reportedly looking to steal the march on Liverpool and Chelsea by tabling a 'concrete offer' to sign Ricardo Rodriguez from Wolfsburg in the ongoing transfer window.

The Daily Express states that the Red Devils are keen on adding one more player to left-back despite signing Luke Shaw from Southampton for a fee believed to be in excess of £30m.

Rodriguez has reportedly been on Liverpool and Chelsea's radar as Brendan Rodgers wants a quality left-back while Jose Mourinho is seeking a replacement for Ashley Cole, who recently joined AS Roma.

The Merseyside club's attempts to swoop on Sevilla's Alberto Moreno seem to have floundered due to issues over the transfer fee and the Blues are in a similar situation after being told to meet Filipe Luis' release clause by Atletico Madrid.

United also have Patrice Evra, who extended his stay at Old Trafford by one year. But reports suggest that he has agreed to join Juventus. The French international is said to be considering his future after Shaw's arrival.

The 33-year-old United stalwart will be discussing his future with incoming manager Louis van Gaal when the 62-year-old Netherlands boss arrives after completing his World Cup duties. Should Evra depart from Old Trafford this summer, the fallen Premier League champions will swiftly move for the Swiss international to fill the void.

After an impressive domestic campaign in the Bundesliga, Rodriguez shined at the World Cup in Brazil, grabbing two assists as Ottmar Hitzfeld's side bowed out in the pre-quarterfinals against Argentina; conceding the game's solitary goal in the 118th minute.

The Express report believes that both Liverpool and Chelsea could reignite their interest and make it a three-way battle to acquire Rodriguez' signature.

The 21-year-old is rated at £12m and will be slightly lighter on the club's accounts as Financial Fair Play rules tighten.

Wolfsburg's sporting director Klaus Allofs has expressed his intentions to retain the former FC Zurich starlet.

But the Bundesliga outfit are said to be considering offers for the left-back in order to raise funds for signing a new striker without needing to sell Luiz Gustavo this summer.

United are currently thought to be in pole position but it remains to be seen whether Rodriguez will continue to ply his trade at the Volkswagen Arena or move to England in search of greener pastures.
