Where to Watch Live

Overview

United come into this game after Southampton snatched a point while David Moyes' side were closing for a victory in the last league fixture. Robin van Persie opened the scoring for the English champions after Saints keeper Artur Boruc blocked Wayne Rooney's shot, which was well converted by the former Arsenal skipper.

However, United were unable to hold their lead as Adam Lallana diverted the ball past David de Gea, leaving the Old Trafford outfitn forced to settle for a draw.

Meanwhile, Sociedad enter this fixture after their 2-1 away win over Valencia in their latest La Liga match. Antoine Griezmann and Ruben Pardo's goals in either half gave Jagoba Arrasate's side a comfortable lead. Valencia did try to make a comeback in the game with Dorlan Pabon scoring a consolation goal for his side from the last kick of the game.

Sociedad are in search of first victory in the European competition this season as they sit at the bottom of Group A after losing the first two fixtures. United, on the other hand are on top of the group table and are level on points with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

What Managers Say

David Moyes: "I watched Sociedad a lot last year and was really impressed by how well they did. The loss of one or two players has made it harder for them this year and maybe the expectations have been much bigger. The games I've watched I've been impressed."

Jagoba Arrasate: "I don't put too much faith in the fact that Manchester United are in the middle of a bad run. I think they have the sort of players who can react at any time and that are ready to put in a good performance at any time."
