Deported Milo Yiannopoulos Abandons 'Ex-Gay' Act and Confirms He Is Still Married to a Man in US

Milo Yiannopoulos has confirmed he is still married to an American man despite publicly declaring himself 'ex-gay' several years ago, revealing the marriage while discussing his dramatic detention and deportation from the US.

The British far-right commentator, who once staged a public spectacle to distance himself from his former gay identity, acknowledged the marriage during an interview with Piers Morgan following his removal by US immigration authorities.

Milo Yiannopoulos Confirms He Is Still Married

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Yiannopoulos said he remains married to an American man, although he maintained that their relationship is no longer sexual.

Yiannopoulos married his long-term boyfriend in Hawaii in 2017. In 2021, however, he publicly declared himself 'ex-gay' after embracing Catholicism and claimed he had become heterosexual. As part of that reinvention, Yiannopoulos filmed himself throwing his engagement ring, which he referred to as his 'sodomy stone,' into the sea.

Despite that public declaration, Yiannopoulos has now confirmed the marriage itself never ended. He also told Morgan that he obtained a green card after marrying and claimed he had been renewing it every two years.

Yiannopoulos Says ICE Detention Left Him 'Frightened'

The admission came as Yiannopoulos described his detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), saying the experience was 'humiliating and disorientating,' 'physically degrading' and frightening.

He claimed he was restrained and repeatedly moved while receiving little information about what was happening.

'I don't think I've ever been frightened like that before,' Yiannopoulos told Morgan, adding that the experience had changed how he viewed people who spoke about lasting trauma following detention.

Yiannopoulos also said he was now 'very ashamed' of previously supporting Donald Trump and claimed he would never have backed him had he understood what immigration detention could involve.

Advocated Tougher Immigration Enforcement

Yiannopoulos's comments mark a striking departure from his previous support for aggressive immigration enforcement.

In June 2025, he called for ICE checkpoints at supermarkets, petrol stations, shopping centres, intersections and government buildings, advocating immediate deportation for people unable to prove they were legally in the country.

In another post, he demanded that the Trump administration deport 'millions and millions and millions of people.' Reuters confirmed Yiannopoulos had repeatedly advocated tougher immigration enforcement before his own detention.

Why Was Milo Yiannopoulos Deported From the US?

ICE officers arrested the 41-year-old British national at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on 27 August before he was deported to the UK the following day.

The Department of Homeland Security said Yiannopoulos legally entered the US in May 2019 but remained after his authorised stay expired. Officials said an immigration judge issued a final removal order on 22 July after he failed to attend an immigration hearing.

Yiannopoulos disputes the government's account. He told Morgan that he had obtained permanent residency through his marriage and alleged that his green card was cancelled without his knowledge. Those claims have not been independently established.

Milo Yiannopoulos Rose to Fame

Yiannopoulos became nationally prominent through Breitbart News and his involvement in the Gamergate controversy before emerging as an outspoken Trump supporter during the 2016 presidential campaign.

His career suffered a major setback in 2017 after past comments about sexual relationships between adults and minors resurfaced, prompting his resignation from Breitbart. He later worked with Ye, formerly Kanye West, and served as an intern for former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

His latest admission that he remains married places renewed attention on the 'ex-gay' identity he publicly adopted in 2021, even as Yiannopoulos continues to insist that the sexual element of his marriage has ended.
