Canadian Police have confirmed that the head found in a Montreal park following a tip off,is that of Jin Lin, a male Chinese student who was murdered and then dismembered by his lover Luke Magnotta. The gruesome murder was filmed by Magnotta and then posted on the internet. Lin's other body parts were then sent to a political headquarters and a school.

The park is just a few miles away from Magnotta's flat, where the murder is alleged to have taken place. A police officer confirms the discovery.

"Honestly, where exactly it came from I can't tell you right now. What I can tell you is that they received information. They went over there, and they indeed found remains."

A Crown Prosecutor explains how important this development is for Mr Lins family

"We are thinking about the family when we talk about that and this is very important for the family of the victim."

Magnotta, who was on Interpol's most-wanted list, was arrested in Germany early last month and deported to Canada. He has pleaded not guilty to five charges against him, including murder. The case continues.
