Lauren Sánchez's 27 Wedding Dresses: Missing Gown Highlights Billionaire Excess at $20m Bezos Wedding
One of Lauren Sánchez's 27 designer wedding gowns vanished en route to her $20m wedding to Jeff Bezos in Mallorca.

One of Lauren Sánchez's custom wedding gowns vanished en route to Mallorca, Spain, just days before her extravagant June wedding to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, according to reports published this week.
The incident, revealed after Vogue profiled the bride's lavish wardrobe, was later confirmed in coverage by the Daily Mail, which reported that Sánchez described the dress as 'the one that got away' and still does not know where it ended up.
A Wardrobe Made for a Week-long Wedding
The former TV anchor and helicopter pilot commissioned 27 gowns for the wedding celebrations, which unfolded over several days in late June on the island of Mallorca. Though the couple officially wed in a private ceremony aboard Bezos's £394 million ($500 million) sailing yacht Koru, the festivities spanned multiple locations and themes.
Sánchez reportedly worked with world-renowned fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Valentino, and Schiaparelli. Each look was designed to match a specific part of the celebration, from pre-wedding dinners to post-ceremony yacht gatherings. But despite meticulous planning, one of the gowns never arrived.
The missing dress disappeared in transit. While Sánchez did not identify the designer, she called it 'a mystery' and said, 'Maybe it wasn't meant to be.' The absence did not derail the celebrations but added an unexpected twist to what was otherwise a tightly choreographed affair.
A Guest List and Budget to Match
The wedding, which took place over the weekend of 22 June 2025, was anything but small. The overall cost reportedly exceeded £15.7 million ($20 million), covering everything from luxury catering to private jet transport and security.
Guests included a who's who of celebrity and tech-world royalty. Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey, Kris Jenner, and Bill Gates were all reported to be in attendance. Attendees were ferried between events via helicopter, private SUV convoys, and Bezos's personal fleet.
The couple rented a 16th-century estate in the mountains of Deià and hosted several gatherings in addition to the ceremony itself. Floral installations, bespoke menus, and designer tableware reportedly formed part of the experience.
Despite its size, Sánchez described the wedding in her Vogue interview as 'intimate and sacred', a phrase that has drawn mixed reactions online.
A Wedding Gown Becomes a Talking Point
The news of the missing dress, while minor in the context of such a massive event, quickly became symbolic of the scale and excess surrounding the celebration. Sánchez's 27-dress wardrobe, combined with the lavish guest list and exotic setting, was seen by some as emblematic of billionaire extravagance.
Online commentary ranged from light-hearted envy to sharper critiques. Some social media users described the situation as a 'billionaire problem no one else could relate to', while others focused on the logistics of storing and transporting such a high number of couture gowns for one weekend.
Sánchez, however, appeared unfazed. Her quote, 'Maybe it wasn't meant to be', delivered with a laugh, seemed to sum up her attitude: elegant but unbothered.
A Wedding Made to be Remembered
Whether it was the superyacht setting, the rotating wardrobe, or the missing designer gown, the Bezos–Sánchez wedding has already cemented its place in 2025's cultural headlines.
The couple, engaged since 2023, have been at the centre of public fascination for years, not just for their wealth but also for their highly visible lifestyle and philanthropic efforts. And while most weddings have a hiccup or two, in this one, a missing dress might be the most on-brand detail of all.
