Defending champion Jorge Lorenzo sits in second place with 239 points and with just three races left after the Malaysian Grand Prix, the Yamaha rider's chance of retaining the Championship looks very slim. Marquez's compatriot and Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa is third with 219 points.

Valentino Rossi is fourth with 185 points with Britain star and Tech 3 rider Cal Crutchlow is fifth, trailing Yamaha's Italian rider by 29 points.

Constructor's Championship Review

With Marquez and Pedrosa dominating the rider's points table, Honda sits at the top of the constructor's table with 497 points. They lead second place Yamaha by 73 points and are favourites to win the constructors this season. Tech 3 are third with 236 points with Crutchlow being the main contributor to the team.
