Nicki Minaj Joins White House Pitch Night to Help Split a $1 Million Clover Prize Among Five US Firms

Rapper Nicki Minaj is to join a White House-linked pitch night on 18 September, helping a celebrity panel split a $1 million (£0.7 million) Clover prize among five US firms. The Small Business Administration will hold the live Million Dollar Pitch Competition in Washington before an audience.

The show is due to air on television and stream online, with exact viewing details still to be announced.

Five American manufacturers will pitch for privately funded growth capital on 18 September in Washington. Nicki Minaj, Grant Cardone and Joe Gebbia will judge; Dean Cain will host. Clover is supplying the prize. Every finalist is guaranteed an award after a field of 1,182 applicants was reduced through district and regional judging.

Celebrity Panel for the White House Pitch Night

Minaj will judge with private-equity manager Grant Cardone and Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, appointed US chief design officer in 2025.

Actor Dean Cain hosts the evening. SBA administrator Kelly Loeffler said the group 'will only add to the excitement of this historic celebration of free enterprise'.

Clover Network, a point-of-sale payments company, is donating the entire prize so that taxpayer funds are not used. The winner will receive $400,000 (£296,000); the other four finalists are guaranteed smaller sums.

Minaj called the role 'a major, MAJOR KEY' and said she looked forward to backing an administration initiative for small businesses. Officials have drawn loose comparisons with Shark Tank, though the agency presents the night as a commemoration of free enterprise.

Five Manufacturing Firms From Across the States

The finalists emerged from 1,182 applications submitted from every state after the contest opened on 13 May as the Patriot Pitch Competition.

They are Compotech of Brewer, Maine, a defence-technology company; Winton Machine of Suwanee, Georgia, which makes metalworking machinery; Plas-Tech Tooling of Garner, Iowa, a plastic-mould manufacturer; Red River of Gillette, Wyoming, which produces pressure vessels; and VetPowered of San Diego, California, a machinery firm.

Each has already used qualifying SBA capital products such as 7(a) or 504 loans. Judges will score pitches on strengthening American competitiveness, industry impact, quality jobs and execution readiness.

Ten semifinalists were named in July before the field was cut to five for the capital finale.

Freedom 250 and the Night in Washington

The contest sits inside Freedom 250, a public-private programme launched in 2025 to mark 250 years of American enterprise. Loeffler has framed the finale as a showcase of Main Street firms that power American strength. The live session will include pitches before the three judges and host plus a studio audience.

Broadcast arrangements remain incomplete two weeks before the date. All five companies will leave with growth capital from the privately funded pot. The SBA says the night is meant to spotlight manufacturers already familiar with its lending tools rather than untested start-ups seeking first cheques.

An SBA spokesperson confirmed this week that more details on how to watch would be released soon.

The five firms are now finishing their final pitches ahead of the 18 September live session in the capital city, where the privately donated Clover prize will finally be allocated among them on the night itself.
