Having sold millions of records as a teen pop sensation it looks like Justin Bieber may be ready to take his career into a new direction.

The 20-year-old singer recently got a little hood when he performed alongside rapper Rick Ross at the packed Gotha Club located in Cannes.

Not only did he act as Ross's hype man but he later jumped on stage himself to rap over Tupac's classic hit Dear Mama.

In the clip obtained by TMZ, the shirtless Baby hitmaker raps: "I reminisce on the stress I caused; it was hell/ Huggin' on my mama from a jail cell,"

The impromptu performances are likely to have given Bieber some much needed street cred.

"You can be anything you put your mind to, Justin," one fan said after watching the video.

Another wrote: "Whats his rapper name gonna be Q-Tip?"

But it's not the first time that Selena Gomez's ex-boyfriend has forayed into the world of hip hop.

In 2011, he showed off his rap skills when he free styled over Jay Z and Kanye West's track Otis during an appearance on radio station Power 106.
