Fabio and Rafael da Silva

Manchester United duo Rafael and Fabio da Silva are likely to leave the club at the end of the season, their agent has told the Italian press.

The Brazilian twins have been involved in the first team squad at varying levels since their arrival from Fluminense in 2008. Rafael has gone on to become the club's first choice option at right back while Fabio has struggled to impose himself on the first team under David Moyes.

Fabio, who spent last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, has made just three appearances for the club this season – just one of those from the start - and picked up a straight red card four minutes after coming off the bench in his last game against Swansea City.

Having been linked with moves to Cardiff City, Napoli and Inter this week, the agent of the 23-year-old brothers Cassiano Pereira has indicated Fabio will leave the club at the end of the current campaign and could be joined by his brother.

When asked on reports regarding a January move for his clients, Pererira told Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato: "I do not know anything about these rumours. I think it is just media speculation.

"I can say that they will remain in Manchester until the end of the season, but in the summer it very likely that they can go."

Fabio would appear the more likely to leave the club with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. Despite starting in the Champions League final just two and a half years ago, the left back appears to have failed to win Moyes over, with the Scot preferring to utilise Alexander Buttner when Patrice Evra is unavailable.

But a move away from Old Trafford for Rafael, who is contracted to the club until 2016, would come as a great surprise given his frequent involvement in the first team.
