Chase Filandro, a rising social media star and aspiring actor, has tragically died by suicide at just 20 years old. The New York University student, known for his vibrant travel videos, witty comedy sketches and heartfelt book reviews, had built a devoted Instagram following of more than 36,000 fans. His charm, quick humour and creative flair made him a much-loved figure both online and off.

Filandro was studying at NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, chasing his dream of a career on stage and screen. Away from the classroom, he fronted indie band Just Add Water as lead vocalist and honed his craft at the Take 2 Actor's Studio in Long Island. Tutors remembered him as a 'vibrant spirit' whose energy, generosity and warmth left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

In a moving tribute, Chase's sister, Franki Ford, called him 'a beacon of light' whose kindness and creativity touched countless lives. To honour his memory, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign to fund a memorial in one of his favourite US National Parks, which quickly raised over £19,000 ($24,000) as fans and friends rallied in support. As they celebrate his talent and gentle heart, Chase's loved ones hope his story will inspire more open conversations about mental health, particularly within the creative circles he cherished so deeply.
