Federer made it to the final after defeating Vasek Pospisil in a nail biting finish during the semi-final clash. The World No 8 defeated the Canadian in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, with the second set being decided on a tie break.
Meanwhile, Del Potro registered a berth in final to defend his title after his victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the semi-finals on Saturday. He won the first set, but the Frenchman bounced back as he won the second set in a comfortable fashion. However, the Argentine made a comeback to win the match in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Federer leads head-to-head against Del Potro 13-4. The two have met in five Grand Slam fixtures and the Argentine has managed to win only once. Federer also holds a 3-2 lead in the five previous meetings between the pair.
