Overview

The World No 5 and Federer have met during the 2012 Swiss Open final with the 25-year-old Argentine registering a victory over the latter. The Sunday's final would see Federer make it to the eight consecutive final in Basel, having won five times in the process.

Federer made it to the final after defeating Vasek Pospisil in a nail biting finish during the semi-final clash. The World No 8 defeated the Canadian in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 7-5, with the second set being decided on a tie break.

Meanwhile, Del Potro registered a berth in final to defend his title after his victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the semi-finals on Saturday. He won the first set, but the Frenchman bounced back as he won the second set in a comfortable fashion. However, the Argentine made a comeback to win the match in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Head-To-Head

Federer leads head-to-head against Del Potro 13-4. The two have met in five Grand Slam fixtures and the Argentine has managed to win only once. Federer also holds a 3-2 lead in the five previous meetings between the pair.

Swiss Indoor Open History

Federer and Del Potro have met twice in the Swiss Indoor Open, with the Swiss winning in 2007 while the latter defeating Federer in the last season's final.
