Erika Kirk is a dedicated and loving mother to her two young children. The same could be said about her husband, Charlie Kirk, when the latter was still alive. Following Charlie's passing, Erika faced backlash for seemingly prioritising her work as the new CEO of TPUSA over her role as a mother. Some netizens urged her to focus on her grief and the grief of her children instead of her work.

Erika has stayed silent on the issue, but she slowly took a step back from her engagements just before the holidays. It was only at the end of January that she started making public appearances again. Her recent public outing caused critics to once again question her parenting style, though how Erika is as a mother in private is something that the public will most likely never see, at least not in the coming years.

Faceless Social Media Posts

She and Charlie used to share photos of their kids on social media. However, they have made it a point to never show their faces due to privacy concerns. Following Charlie's assassination, Erika became more protective of her children. During a recent interview with Fox News, she explained why she hides their faces on social media.

'I want my babies to have a childhood. I don't need them to be dragged through the mud on social media. I don't need the photos of my children out there,' she said. Erika also said that she and her husband are very intentional with their kids. They are also very protective of them because they believe that whatever they love needs to be protected all the more.

Questions About Custody

The doting mother's relationship with her children was also questioned after rumours swirled that she lost custody to her mother-in-law. Due to Erika's busy schedule, she allegedly didn't have any time to tend to the youngsters. The rumours started because of Rep. Anna Paulina Luna's incorrect statement.

'Well, you know, could Erika have been involved in any of that? And that's what I'm saying -- like, I don't think that she at all had any connection to that. When I see that, it's like, you're already victimising the victim, if that makes sense. Because at the end of the day, she did lose her husband, she lost her kids...' Luna said. Luna later debunked her statement by saying that she simply meant Erika lost her husband, and her children lost their dad.

Dates to Remember

Other than this, Erika was also criticised for seemingly forgetting how many years she has been married to Charlie. In one of their podcast interviews, Charlie read a question asking how long she and Erika had been married. Erika tried answering the question before stopping to remember the actual number of years.

Charlie jumped in to remind his wife that they have been married since 2021. Erika then hilariously put the blame on their kids, saying that following their births, there are just too many dates and years to remember. However, fans slammed Erika for her reasoning and said that a wedding date or year and two children's birthdays are not hard to remember.
