Daniel Sturridge looks set to become the first major Premier League signing of the January transfer window, as he is poised to join Liverpool from Chelsea for £12m.

After failing to land the 23 year old England international in the summer, the move will finally see Brendan Rodgers reunited with the striker he knows from his time at Chelsea.

The move could see Sturridge, who has scored two goals in 12 appearances for Chelsea so far this season, start in the Reds FA Cup 3rd round match against Mansfield this weekend.

The arrival of Sturridge will hopefully see the burden liften on Reds forward Luis Suarez, who for most of the season has been the club's only recognised striker.

Rodgers will be hoping to further bolster his attacking options in January, with the club currently in talks with Blackpool over signing 20 year old winger Thomas Ince in a £6m deal.
