Overview

Tottenham come into this game on the back of two prominent losses, the first on Thursday last week, where they were knocked out of the Europa League by Fiorentina and then on Sunday, when Chelsea beat them in the final of the Capital One Cup making it a disappointing week for the club.

Even in the Premier League, they have failed to win in their last two games, putting their chances of playing in the Champions League next season at risk. Mauricio Pochettino is aware that it will be a hard task to motivate the players after the week they have had, but he wants the players to use the disappointment and respond with a match winning performance against Swansea on Wendesday.

The Spurs boss has a fully fit squad to choose from and could rotate following back-to-back fixtures on Thursday and Sunday. Harry Kane, who failed to score against the Blues on Sunday will be eager to get his team back to winning ways and stay close to Premier League rivals, also vying for a place in the top four.

Meanwhile, Swansea City come into this game in contrasting form after having won their last two games in the Premier League against Manchester United and Burnley. These wins have seen Garry Monk's team overtake West Ham United into eight place just four points behind hosts Tottenham.

Garry Monk will hope that his team maintain their momentum and continue their march up the table and pile on more misery on Pochettino's team, who are still recovering from their League Cup loss and European exit.

This is our objective and we need the three points against Swansea. We need to lift the players, we need to put an idea in the group that this is the most important game. It is difficult. Expectation was big but we need to forget that and we need to focus. Now we only have one competition and we need to win the three points."

Garry Monk: "You would like to think Tottenham's confidence has been dented by losing the (Capital One Cup) final, but I am not so sure that will be the case. They are a top team, and top teams always want a good reaction after they have lost a game. We are preparing for the best Tottenham side and a fully-focused Tottenham side, and that will mean a very difficult game for us."
