Transfer Gossip

Manchester City are set to place Lyon left back Aly Cissokho at the top of their transfer wish list according to the Sun. Manchester City chief executive Gary Cook and Brian Harwood flew out to France earlier in the week in an attempt to tie up a deal for the French left back. The powerful and pacey player is one of the most talked about defenders in Europe and Manchester City will be looking to tie up a deal sooner rather than later. Roberto Mancini wants Cissokho to provide competition for Aleksandar Kolarov

The Daily Star report Porto striker Falcao has pleaded with Andre Villas Boas to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The striker has now become Chelsea's number one target and the Londoners believe they can sign the player for around £25m. As well as Falcao, Chelsea are set to bid for Barcelona's Dani Alvez. The new Chelsea boss is ready to signal his intent by offering £27m for the right back and is willing to use David Luiz as a make weight in the deal.

Staying at Stamford Bridge, the Mirror have today claimed that Chelsea are set for a transfer clear out with new boss Andre Villa-Boas highlighting the age of the squad as a massive obstacle in their quest for European success. The newspaper reports that Frank Lampard, Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba are set to be shown the Stamford Bridge exit in one of the biggest shakeups since Roman Abramovich's arrival.

Sticking with the Mirror, the paper claims that Liverpool are now ready to battle Sunderland for the signature of England under 21 star Conor Wickham. The newspaper claims that Liverpool has matched Sunderland's £8m offer for Wickham and are ready to increase the offer to get their man. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has been monitoring the Ipswich striker for six months and is ready to battle Sunderland all the way after it was revealed the north east club had made a formal offer.

The Daily Mail has revealed that Aston Villa want away Stewart Downing can leave the club if Liverpool matches the £19m asking price. New Villa boss Alex McLeish wants to keep the winger but with the England man stalling on a new deal, McLeish is ready to cash in on the player.

In news that affects Manchester United, Wes Brown is set to leave Old Trafford for Sunderland in a £4m deal. There has been reported interest from Aston Villa and Everton but Wes Brown is set for talks with Steve Bruce today over a possible move. The paper also reveals that Dimitar Berbatov wants clarification over his future at the club. After missing out on the Champions League final and with Manchester United offering Michael Owen a new deal, it is widely expected that the Bulgarian could be on his way out of Old Trafford.

La Liga

Reports in Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Pele has advised Santos striker Neymar not to move to the Premier League. Neymar is said to be on the verge of signing for Real Madrid with a deal all but signed, according to the Madrid based paper. Neymar will cost Madrid around £35m but Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is not keen on paying such a high price for a player who is unproven in European football.

Barcelona chiefs expect to tie up a deal for Alexis Sanchez by the end of the week. Udinese have accepted a bid from the Spanish giants and a late offer from Manchester City has done nothing to convince Sanchez that his future is in England. Reports in the Mirror today claim that Sanchez refused to board a plane to Manchester yesterday and now it seems the Chilean winger will make his long awaited move to Barcelona this week.
Serie A

Roma are set to sign Bojan from Barcelona in a fee thought to be around £12m. The Barcelona forward has been frozen out at the Nou Camp and is looking to move to reignite his career.
