Donald Trump Body Double Rumours: Netizens Claim 'That's Not Trump' After He Appears With Darker Hair

US President Donald Trump sparked online speculation about a possible body double on Friday after boarding Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland with hair that appeared noticeably darker than usual.

The speculation echoed longstanding online rumours about First Lady Melania Trump, who has been the subject of unproven claims on social media that a body double appears in her place at some events. Those claims remain unverified and have not been substantiated by credible evidence.

One person on X questioned Trump's identity, writing, 'That's not Trump. That is a body double. Or a body half because this person is half the size of the real Trump. Hair is half the color.'

Another user simply wrote, 'That's the body double.'

The speculation continued with another person claiming that every world leader has multiple doubles and alleging that former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein had 'at least 20.' These were assertions made by social media users, and IBTimes UK cannot independently verify any of them.

The comments came as Trump was preparing for a weekend trip that included plans to play golf. His darker-looking hair drew attention because it appeared different from his familiar lighter hairstyle.

Trump Has Repeatedly Denied Wearing a Wig

The latest body double speculation follows years of online discussion about whether Trump wears a wig. Trump has repeatedly denied the allegation and has discussed his hair publicly while addressing the rumours.

During remarks at a police academy event on Long Island on 14 August, Trump spoke about 'puffing up' his hair while discussing what he described as declining violent crime statistics. He also referred to claims that he wears a wig, saying he had dealt with the allegation for years and insisting that he does not wear one. His comments prompted laughter from the audience.

Trump later returned to the subject during remarks in the White House Rose Garden. He referenced a windy event at Dayton International Airport in Ohio earlier in the year, where he appeared with Republican politician Bernie Moreno.

Trump recalled that strong winds had affected his hair during the event and argued that a wig would not have remained on his head in such conditions. His comments were another public denial of the wig rumours.

Despite those denials, a Mirror US online poll of its readers found that 87 per cent of respondents said they believed Trump wears a wig.

Trump's Changing Hairstyle Continues To Draw Attention

Interest in Trump's hair had already intensified following his appearance at the Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas on 5 August. During a speech there, his hairstyle reportedly appeared fuller and more vibrant than during some other recent appearances.

Some detractors questioned on X whether Trump was wearing a weave, while supporters praised the look and suggested he appeared to be 'aging in reverse.'

Journalist Aaron Rupar also drew attention to the change, asking on X, 'Is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?'

The Las Vegas appearance contrasted with other recent public appearances in which Trump's hair appeared thinner.

A bald spot had previously attracted attention when Trump hosted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa at the White House in 2025. His hair also appeared thinner and more dishevelled during an Oval Office event on maternal healthcare held in May last year.

By comparison, Trump's hair appeared thinner again during a brief meeting with reporters aboard Air Force One on a subsequent Sunday. The differing appearances have continued to generate online discussion about the president's hairstyle, although the body-double and wig claims remain unverified.
