Tim Krul

Netherlands have sealed a place in the semi final of the 2014 Fifa World Cup after defeating Costa Rica on penalties.

The match ended in a goalless draw even after the completion of the extra time and the tie was decided by the outcome of the penalty shootout. In the dying moments of the extra time, Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal made a substitution as he replaced starting goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen with Tim Krul.

The Newcastle United stopper made two fine saves in helping his side seal a place in the last four of the competition as Netherlands won the match 4-3 on penalties. After their victory, Manchester United fans took to Twitter to laud the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager's tactics.

Van Gaal will take over the reins at Old Trafford after the completion of the World Cup campaign with his national side. Even before his first day at United, the Red Devils faithful are already excited and hopeful to see their club being guided by the Dutchman next season.

Van Gaal knows what he is about. Father Lord may this man bring such magic to Manchester United soon. The team needs it #mufc #LVG

My brain is struggling to comprehend what I have just seen #LVG do. #MUFC players will need to step up or they are finished under him
