Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of signing Schalke star Julian Draxler in the ongoing transfer window hours before the transfer window shuts at 11pm GMT on Friday.

The German international has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this month. The former Arsenal stopper Jens Lehmann had urged Draxler to make a switch to the north London club while the Gunners legend Robert Pires has advised the Frenchman in signing the talented midfielder.

However, Wenger has put all the speculations linking Draxler with a move to Emirates to bed.

When asked about the transfer saga surrounding the 20-year-old, Wenger said: "The Draxler situation has been created by the newspapers, not by me. He will stay at Schalke."

Arsenal are without the services of Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini for their upcoming domestic fixtures. The Gunners manager admitted that his side are looking to bring in midfielders, especially after Ramsey's injury and Flamini's suspension.

Arsenal fans expressed their dissatisfaction on social networking after Wenger confirmed that Draxler will not join the north London side in January.

Wenger bottling a big deal once again! Ozil deal was enough for next 5 seasons before be breaks the £20mill mark again! #draxler

Hearing what people are saying about this Kallstrom bloke I think I'd prefer if we signed nobody then him. #afc #TransferDeadlineDay

So, as I predicted, Draxler deal off. And Wenger not even trying for a new striker. We'll be 3rd or 4th again. #Afc #DEADlineDay
