Cannes Film Festival 2012: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kim Kardashian, Heidi Klum and Other Celebrities Shine at amfAR's Cinema Against Aids Event

The hottest celebrities from around the world came together for the 2012 amfAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) Cinema Against AIDS event, at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cannes.

The stars who attended the L'Oreal Paris - amfAR dinner included reality star Kim Kardashian, Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, supermodel Heidi Klum, Nina Dobrev, Irina Shayk, Kate Upton, Jessie J and Berenice Bejo, all of whom helped raise funds for the fight against AIDS.

Furthermore, other key celebrities who were present for the high-profile dinner were Diane Kruger, Kylie Minogue, Alec Baldwin, Gerard Butler, Paris Hilton, Janet Jackson, Kirsten Dunst, Eva Herzigova, Julianna Magulies, Adrien Brody, Peter Nemcova, Doutzen Kroes, Tara Reid, Milla Jovovich and Joshua Jackson.

Designer Karl Lagerfeld and amfAR co-chairs Kenneth Cole, Harvey Weinstein and Michel Hazanavicius were also present at the gala.

There was much speculation over the appearance of former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the event, after shereceived considerable criticismfor not losing weight after giving birth to her first child - Aaradhya - in November. However, she silenced her critics by turning up looking wonderfully well dressed in traditional attire.

The outfit, designed by Indian duo of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, was a gold embroidered sari, teamed with a tailored jacket with a Mandarin collar.

"Eleven glorious years... The journey so far has been remarkable and truly memorable. This year, I am especially privileged as I also get to lend my support to a very important cause at the amfAR dinner, by helping raise funds for the fight against AIDS, at the amfAR auction," the actress, who is also cosmetic brand L'oreal's brand ambassador, said in a statement.

"It makes me proud that L'Oreal Paris sponsors and supports our fight against AIDS through this special amfAR event at Cannes," she added.

Meanwhile, American reality star Kim Kardashian glowed in a canary yellow gown with a Forties' style curl and bright red lipstick, while singer Jessie J - aka Jessica Ellen Cornish - wore a red leopard-print dress that had a slit right up to her hip, reminding the crowd of Angelina Jolie's act at the 2012 Oscar's red carpet earlier this year.

This year's event has reportedly raised nearly 8.7 million Euros ($11 million).
