From 'Harry Potter' to OnlyFans: 'Ron Weasley's Girlfriend' Charges Subscribers $6 a Month to Pay the Bills

Former Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave has revealed that a $6 (£4.50) monthly OnlyFans subscription became an unexpected financial lifeline after irregular acting work left her struggling to support her family. The actress, who played Lavender Brown in the final three Harry Potter films, said the platform earned more in a single day than she often made from acting over an entire year.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning, she admitted she initially found joining the platform 'embarrassing', but said mounting family expenses left her with few practical alternatives.

'People Assume I'm Rich'

During the interview, Cave dismissed the common perception that every actor connected to Harry Potter became wealthy after the films. 'People just assume I'm rich and I have loads of money, but no, I don't,' she said. Although she continued acting after leaving the franchise, Cave explained that supporting roles rarely provide a consistent income.

As the mother of four children with comedian Alfie Brown, she said the high cost of childcare made taking conventional work increasingly difficult. 'It was embarrassing because, on a certain level, I would have really liked to get a job, but you know what it's like when you have kids... it costs so much for childcare,' she said.

A Niche OnlyFans Account Became an Unexpected Solution

Cave launched her OnlyFans page in March 2025 with hair-focused content aimed at a niche audience. Announcing the move on Instagram, she described the venture as 'niche, even for me' and invited followers to join her on what she called a 'strange new journey'.

Reflecting on the decision, Cave said she had supported herself through acting for nearly two decades before reaching a point where the industry's unpredictability made it difficult to provide for her family. 'I have managed to keep afloat for 18 years,' she said. 'And then, it just came to a moment a couple of years ago where I was like, "Oh yeah, I really don't know what I would do," and this was an option.'

The $6 Subscription That Outperformed Acting

Earlier this month, Cave revealed that her OnlyFans account generated £15,000 (about $20,000) in a single day, an amount she said exceeded what she would typically earn from acting over an entire year. She added that the income from subscribers paying around $6 a month had 'genuinely saved' her family's finances.

'I thought I'd make five grand, be on it for a few months, and it would buy me time to work out what we're going to do,' she said. Although she described OnlyFans as 'a weird job', Cave said its flexible schedule enabled her to earn an income without sacrificing childcare responsibilities, something she struggled to achieve through traditional acting work.

Cave's experience reflects a wider reality across the entertainment industry, where performers in supporting roles often face irregular employment long after appearing in successful productions.
