A new Facebook app could create some waves when live coverage of Apple's iPad event kick starts later on Wednesday.

One of the speculations surrounding the new iPad was the possibility of the device having iOS 5.1. The software went to three beta stages in November, December and January, at the hands of developers. "Chronic", a hacker who is a member of the iOS jailbreaking community, has indicated the software has completed quality checks and could be released now.

Meanwhile, Techie Buzz has suggested updates sent from a native iOS Facebook app for the iPad and the iPhone, which read as "Sent via Facebook for iPhone" or "Facebook for iPad" instead of "via mobile" according to the device it was sent, could indicate the iOS 5.1 may come with Facebook integration for the tablet. Last year Twitter was added as an integral part of iOS 5. In addition the iOS 5.1 software is believed to include new features that have been kept under wraps.

It should be remembered that Apple earlier removed Facebook integration from Ping and accepted Twitter to the iOS 5.
