  • Catalans also looking to part ways with former Valencia defender Jeremy Mathieu.
  • Turkish playmaker has recently been linked with a £25m move to Arsenal.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to put Arda Turan up for sale ahead of the summer transfer window amid speculation linking the midfielder with Arsenal. Sport claims the Turkey international, Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu are expected to leave the Nou Camp as the La Liga giants prepare for a major clear-out.

Last summer the Catalans binned a number of first-team players like Dani Alves, Marc Bartra and Claudio Bravo to make space for Paco Alcacer, Andre Gomes, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Digne, Denis Suarez and Jasper Cillesen.

Barcelona have never been afraid to sell top-name players who have fell out of favour, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro Rodriguez being sold to Arsenal and Chelsea to fund the signings of new stars.

The upcoming summer transfer window is expected to be busier than ever at the Nou Camp as Barcelona are also searching for a new manager with Luis Enrique already announcing that he will be leaving his job.

Furthermore, back-to-back defeats against Malaga and Juventus have dented their hopes of winning La Liga and the Champions League titles – demonstrating that the squad needs some tinkering ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

And Sport claims that Turan, Mascherano and Mathieu are three of the players who will be shown the exit door in this mercato.

Turan, 30, only joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015 but has failed to make the impact expected at the Nou Camp.

Yet, the Turkey international has scored 13 goals this season and Sport believes that his sale could bolster the Barcelona coffers.

Last month The Times reported Arsenal are planning a £25m offer to lure him to the Emirates Stadium amid the expected departures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Turan's agent has since claimed that he is yet to receive any approach from Arsenal but the player had an offer from China in the past and a move to the Far East could be an option.

Meanwhile, Sport believes that Mascherano and Mathieu are also enjoying their last weeks at Barcelona. However, it is unlikely the Catalan side can get any money from the two defender as they are both the wrong side of 30 and have had seasons to forget.
