Santi Cazorla has called for change at Arsenal next season if they are to win the Premier League title after faltering in the latter half of the current campaign following a promising start. The Gunners entered the year at the top of the table, and were two points behind league leaders Leicester City in February, but a dismal run that saw them winning just two of their seven league games pulled them down the order and get sucked into the battle for the fourth place along with Manchester United and Manchester City.

Arsene Wenger has come under immense pressure in recent months with supporters and ex-players questioning his position at the club. The Frenchman, who is contracted to Arsenal until the summer of 2017, has made it clear that he will see out his contract. The drop in performance in the second-half of the campaign after a promising start has become a norm for the Emirates Stadium outfit in recent seasons, and the manager will come under heavy pressure to strengthen the squad in the summer.

The Spain international, who was injured for the last five months, believes the Gunners could have won the title this season with a little more discipline during games, especially during encounters in which Arsenal let the lead slip. The former Malaga star, however, is not giving up on the team and believes they will come back stronger next year.

"Certainly we need to change something, because if we want to win we need to change. We will see what we have to do, but I think we need to be more regular, regulars every time," Carzola told Sky Sports.

"This year we lost at home to Swansea, drew at home to Crystal Palace, and this is the difference if you want to win the league. For example against Crystal Palace when we were winning 1-0, we need to think about defending sometimes."

"It's true we have a great mentality and great philosophy, because we always want to attack and always want to score, but sometimes we need to be clever, and if we are winning 1-0 we need to protect this result and win the three points," the Spanish midfielder explained.

"We had a great opportunity [to win the title], we know that and we were disappointed. But this is football, and we only look to the future. We all have the responsibility this season. When we win we win together, when we lose we lose together, we are a team. I hope next season we improve a lot and I hope we win next season."

"The first thing I can say is sorry for my injury; I couldn't help the team for a long time. And the second one would be thank you very much for the support, they are amazing supporters, and the disappointment is normal."

"We know we had a great opportunity to win the league this year and the only thing now is to fight until the end for the final three games," he added.
